Backstory
Dabble is a community marketplace connecting curious learners with local experts, teachers and event hosts for one-of-a-kind in-person classes.

Dabble collaborated with Flatiron School for their new web design project and were assigned to my cohort. This project consisted of 4 design sprints in a span of one month and I teamed up with two other designers from my class.

Unfortunately, Dabble's new beautiful site is not yet live as they are shopping to sell the platform due to COVID 😢 but you can still visit their current site here.
The Task
Build a new group management platform that will have group communication tools and support efforts to get more people using Dabble for free and paid events.

Design Challenges
Challenge #1
Create an opportunity for members and non-members to interact through a social media feed styled group page
Challenge #2
Create informative and useful group & event management tools with visual style
Challenge #3
Develop a look and feel that convey something new but native to the original Dabble UI treatment
Discovery, analysis and conception
The design team turned to user, domain and competitor research to better understand the user and product. We split the work evenly between each other choosing 3 companies each to evaluate for our domain research and competitive analysis. We approached user testing the same way with each designer interviewing 3 exiting Dabble users. Finally, we synthesized our research into insights used for our preliminary designs and style tile concepts.

Competitive Analysis
Based on this research we found that many competitors have similar weaknesses in design and branding with the ineffective use of CTAs and high-quality imagery.
Conception & User Testing
The user test participants were preexisting market users age 20 - 35. The feedback suggested trends for the use of bright CTA's, photo dominant cards, san-serif fonts and curvy iconography.
Design Solutions
We addressed Challenge #1 by allowing Dabble users to interact on a social feed that consists of user generated photos, reactions and comment sections. Challenge #2 was solved by designing analytics and statistics thumbnails in the profile section of group hosts. Lastly, Challenge #3 we made use of Dabble's existing color schemes and accents. We brought them to life in different ways through the design of CTA's, components and elements.
