Backstory
Vente was a mock project assignment in my curriculum at Flatiron school. We were instructed to create an event search mobile app that could compete with Eventbrite and Thrillist. The duration of this project was 12 weeks.
The Task
Create a mobile app that recommended local events and activities to its audience. Similar to Eventbrite or Thrillist, Vente aimed to deliver a curated, personal experience to the user that was easy to pick up and engage with.
“I love how simple this is to use. Everything is in the right place, super scannable and autonomous.”

The Challenge
Our ideal users need a way to find events relevent to his or her liking quickly while staying informed with the latest. The user personas were created by Flatiron's complementary UX cohort.

Design Goals
Goal #1
Develop an onboarding event interest selection & management feature to create a personalized user experience
Goal #2
Neatly organize information about upcoming and past events by time & date that'll allow users to easily keep up with what's current
Goal #3
Design a homepage feed that will quickly present the user with events that are relevant to their liking in order to save browsing time
Research & Conception
To start the research process I turned to scaling the competition in the event search sector to see what they were doing right and opportunities to improve. I conducted a visual competitive analysis that showed patterns in using a dynamic color schemes, complementary colored CTA's and the use of extra spacing.
Visual Competitive Analysis (Click dots to view more)
Major market players Thrillist, Meetup and Eventbrite showed an inconsistent use of CTA styling on their desktop interface and mobile interfaces.
Conception & User Testing
Style tile user testing results showed a strong preference for the "Space" concept. Participants reported the concept to be more friendly, energetic and fun.
Branding
Adventure, creativity, curiocity and extroverted are the attributes at the center of Vente's core values. Our tone of voice, color scheme, imagery and iconography will convey these attributes in hopes for our users to enjoy when interacting with Vente mobile app.

Logo Design
Logo concept #1 (Connected Community)
This concept was designed to convey community and connectivity. Event platforms are often utilized for academic events that give experts and aspiring working professionals a place to interact. The theme of this design was built around the use of dots which were intended to represent individual people in the community and show how communities are interconnected. The color green was used because of its’ calming feel and association to new beginnings, growth, and success.
Logo concept #2 (Free Space)
Logo design #2 was the final logo design direction after getting feedback from user interview participants and my design cohort. This design captures the idea of open space. Vente is an event recommending platform where unique events will take place in open spaces. We want users to feel as if Vente will always provide robust event options. The color blue was chosen to represent Vente for this logo design because it is the preferred color across the globe and blue can make people feel safe.

Design Solutions
The main frustrations of our user personas drove my design solutions for project Vente. Issues with event saturation, spending too much time browsing for events and organization were addressed in the following designs.
During the onboarding process users will be asked to choose their interests. Event content in app will be based off of the interest tags you favorite to create your personalized feed.
Since your feed will be personalized Vente's home screen will be able to quickly present you with events that are in line with your unique taste. No need to browse forever when we know what you like.
Easily stay up to date with too many things going on in your active community. Here, we organize your events so you'll never be left behind.
If you wish to add or take away any interest tags on your profile easily get it done in the "Interests profile section." Selecting or deselecting tags will immediately take effect in what will be shown on your feed.
