HealthTrack approached me to rethink their onboarding and AI integration experience. The product was packed with powerful features like nutrition tracking, medication logging, body scanning but users werenβt engaging beyond the initial sign-up. My job was to build a clearer, smarter flow that made users feel supported, not overwhelmed.
β
Users felt lost during onboarding. There were too many steps, no clear purpose, and AI features like the chatbot or body scan felt disconnected from their health goals.
β
Engagement dropped significantly after sign-up. Our goal was to streamline onboarding, increase AI feature adoption, and boost user confidence with personalized, intuitive entry points.
β
User Research
I spoke to 10 users who had downloaded the app in the last 90 days. 7 said onboarding felt like βdata dumpingβ instead of meaningful setup. 6 had no idea what the AI body scan actually did.
β
Competitor Analysis
We looked at competitors like MyChart and HealthMate, which had cleaner interfaces and clearer data visualization. HealthTrack had a lot of potential but needed better navigation and a more visible focus on security.
β
β
Ideation
I redesigned onboarding using a modular AI-first flow. The new structure lets users experience small, confident wins early on.
β
User Flows
The user flows were redesigned to ensure quick access to key features, like booking appointments, tracking health data, and accessing personal health records. The goal was to reduce friction in the process and make everything feel seamless.

β
Wireframes
I worked on wireframes that emphasized a clean, modular design. Health data was displayed in easy-to-read cards, and important actions like making appointments or viewing medical history were front and center.

β
Prototyping
Using Figma, we created an interactive prototype, making sure to integrate easy navigation, customizable dashboards, and clear security settings for users to feel safe.
β
Testing
Tested with 12 users. 75% completed onboarding without confusion (up from 38% pre-redesign). Biggest impact: users understood why we were collecting their data. βIt feels like it knows me,β one said

β
Iterations
We simplified the security settings by making them more prominent and adding a quick tutorial to guide users through setting up privacy preferences. This helped users feel more confident about the appβs security. Designed a light, calming interface using lavender and soft green tones for wellness-focused UX. Created modular components for data cards, scan results, and dashboard summaries. Icons were reworked to feel more human and conversational, especially in the AI Chatbot and Community Access areas.
β
UI Design
The final UI had a modern, calm aesthetic with soft blues and greens to create a sense of trust and comfort. Typography was made clear and readable, and icons were intuitive to keep the interface simple.
β
Key Features
Dashboard: Personalized health summary generated based on AI analysis of user inputs.
β
User Experience Impact
Business Outcomes
With the improved experience and clearer communication around security, HealthTrack saw a 15% increase in new sign-ups and a drop in churn rate.
β
This wasnβt just a redesign, it was a reintroduction. By putting trust, clarity, and emotional intelligence at the core of onboarding, we transformed HealthTrack into a companion, not just a tool. Iβd love to push this further by integrating telehealth visits and smart coaching based on AI recommendations in future iterations.
β
Moving forward, we plan to incorporate more personalized health insights and integrate telemedicine features to further engage users and enhance the appβs overall experience.
