Bringing Nature to Digital Life: Designing a Seamless Shopping Experience

πŸ” The Problem

LiveTrends, an innovative brand merging nature and design, needed a digital storefront that matched the beauty and ease of their physical products. Their e-commerce platform lacked cohesive visual hierarchy, intuitive user flows, and a compelling brand experience that truly represented the handcrafted nature of their plant decor.

Users struggled with navigation, product discovery, and cart conversion, especially on mobile.

‍

🎯 The Objective

  • Elevate the visual design to reflect the brand’s earthy, modern aesthetic
  • Streamline the shopping experience with intuitive user journeys
  • Improve product discoverability and mobile accessibility
  • Integrate motion and interaction design to enhance emotional engagement

‍

πŸ“Š My Role & Approach

As the lead designer, I owned the end-to-end UX and visual design process from research to execution while collaborating cross-functionally with dev, marketing, and product teams.

‍

Approach:

  • Conducted usability testing with first-time buyers, repeat customers, and B2B partners
  • Identified high-friction drop-off points in the current checkout and product exploration flow
  • Worked closely with developers to implement a responsive, modular design system
  • Crafted a motion design language to add personality to microinteractions and transitions

‍

πŸ’‘ Key Insights

  • Product categories were visually overcrowded, making decision-making overwhelming
  • Mobile users struggled with filtering options and often abandoned carts mid-checkout
  • Users expressed wanting more lifestyle imagery and dynamic content that showcased scale, feel, and use of the products
  • The brand voice was underrepresented in the visual interface and content strategy

‍

✏️ Design Execution

  • Introduced a bold-yet-minimal visual style, incorporating negative space, clean typography, and organic textures
  • Refined the product card structure with hover animations, motion-enhanced filters, and clear CTAs
  • Redesigned the navigation architecture to support both casual discovery and purpose-driven shopping
  • Built reusable UI components with accessibility best practices and performance optimization in mind

‍

βœ… The Results

  • 22% increase in average session duration
  • 15% improvement in mobile checkout completion rates
  • Reduced bounce rates on collection pages by 27%
  • Stakeholder feedback: β€œThe digital experience finally mirrors our product philosophy: clean, modern, and inspired by nature.”

‍

πŸ”„ What I Learned

This project taught me how to strike the right balance between storytelling and utility. I learned how subtle animations and layout decisions can influence trust, inspire exploration, and drive conversion especially in an e-commerce context where emotion and clarity are equally critical.

‍

πŸ™Œ Final Takeaway

Great design in e-commerce goes beyond clicks and carts, it’s about creating a brand experience users can feel. For LiveTrends, my mission was simple: bring the feeling of nature into every tap, scroll, and interaction.
